Classes for Non-Profits
The City of Fresno Resource Development Services
United Way of Fresno County (UWFC) has been committed to improving the quality of life for people in Fresno County since 1924. Most recently the Board of Directors adopted a vision and mission statement that directly reflects the strategic alignment of the organization to mobilize the caring power of communities and make long-lasting impact in community conditions.
Long-lasting change in community conditions only comes as communities are mobilized; revenue streams flow to fund needed programs and services; and non-profits have the capacity to deliver services that not only fill a need, but provide the support for growth and self-sufficiency.
The City of Fresno has granted UWFC the Resource Development Services (RDS) grant to build the capacity of non-profit organizations in Fresno City . We cannot recall a time in the history of our state and nation when the challenge of capacity building and sustainability for non-profits has been greater or the need more evident.
In 2010 United Way of Fresno County is committed to building the capacity of non-profits for sustainability through the RDS Program through the following avenues:
Proposal Development (Grant Writing Class)
Proposal Development classes for non-profit organizations serving residents of the City of Fresno are offered every other month. These basic classes teach non-profit staff how to apply for funding through the grant making process. The classes are supported by a dedicated library/office at United Way of Fresno County with computer access to research foundations; reference books and online tutorials. In addition, organizations may request mentoring support and/or counseling on how to choose and develop relationships with funders and write a winning proposal.
