LIVE UNITED
Underneath everything we are,
Underneath everything we do,
We are all people.
Connected. Interdependent.
United.
And when we reach out a hand
to one, we influence the condition
of all.
That's what it means to
LIVE UNITED.

The United Way of Fresno County and the U.S. Marine Corps, in partnership with KFSN ABC-30, Walgreens, San Joaquin Valley College and Pelco by Schneider Electric, thank everyone who played a role in the 2012 Toys for Tots Campaign. Through the generous donations and monetary gifts of Fresno County residents, the U.S. Marine Corps were able to give out over 65,000 new toys to needy children in the Valley. $120,000 in monetary donations were also collected. The goal each year is that each needy child in Fresno County gets the opportunity to feel the joy of unwrapping a new toy on Christmas - in hopes that they will pay it forward and grow to be patriotic, productive citizens and community leaders. Each year, as the Holiday season comes around, we count on the giving spirit of our community to give back to those who are less fortunate. One new toy can bring happiness to the hearts of many! THANK YOU to every person that donated a toy or monetary gift - and to all of the volunteers for your time and effort to make Toys for Tots a success. For more information, please contact Melissa Tav at 243.3663 or mtav@unitedwayfresno.org.

If you are an agency/church and would like to receive toys for the 2012 Toys for Tots season, please be aware that the Registration meetings have already taken place and we will NOT be acccepting any more applications for this year. Please mark on your calendars to check our website, www.unitedwayfresno.org, in September 2013 to find out the registration dates for the 2013 season. How can I volunteer?
|
|
Volunteers (groups big and small!) are needed to assist the Marines with several projects:
* Toys for Tots Warehouse: Volunteers will sort and organize the thousands of toys that come through during the months of November and December. To volunteer, please contact Melissa Tav at 559.243.3663 or mtav@unitedwayfresno.org in early December.
* Box Delivery Drivers: Volunteers are neeed to assist the Marines with distributing, and pickup of the drop off boxes that are used for collecting toys. Volunteers will need to use their own vehicle to take a small area of Fresno County and help distribute boxes and posters to the business. These volunteers would also need to pick up any remaining toys (and the boxes) from Dec. 17-19 - and deliver them to the Toys for Tots Warehouse for sorting and distribution.
Unfortunately, gas wil not be reimbursed. However, miles logged for this are tax deductable and appropriate information can be provided on behalf of the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation.
If you would like to help, please contact Staff Sgt William Cardinal at 559-469-2767.

What kinds of toys should I donate?
|
|
We ask that all donations of toys to be new and unwrapped, for ages 0-12. Educational toys are encouraged! Children in the younger category of 0-3 are most in need of toys, so please keep that in mind as you shop for toys this year. Of course, any donation is much appreciated!
|
|
What kinds of toys should I avoid donating?
|
|
We ask that you please NOT donate any toys that are guns or weapons of any kind, including lead-based toys.
Every year, we get plenty of stuffed animals and although these are wonderful gifts - we are not able to give them out to children due to sanitary conditions. We encourage you to instead donate these to other organizations that may need them.
